Deejay Testimonials
Karen,
Your folks came through all right; it came in this morning & I listened
to it straight through (to be honest that's a rarity, it just worked out
that way). I think the bad relationship songs esp "Have You Ever
Dated?" "Jazzbeau" & "Bored at First Sight" work well for radio: the
observations oughta cut through the general mush of love songs. And "Do
Ghosts Get Fat?" & the other poem can also work in lots of different
shows here, as long as I spotlight them. And "Woodside" should have a
chance since a lot of us like off-kilter semi-cover versions of the
classics (especially now that the FCC won't let us play "Wild Side" in
primetime).I'm working to expand our concept of a Comedy/Novelty section at
present, so "Virgin Mirth" won't be sitting there in Dr. Demento's
ghetto with no company. You've got William Shatner's "Has Been," the
Capital Steps, Joe Pesci & the Sweet Potato Queens ... And Arnold
Schwarzenegger's Workout Album (re-released in 2003).All the best,

Karen Stern,
I remember an EP of yours from the summer (pre-"election" time) it
contained "My Big Feet" & a topical song or 2 including "Woodside" I
think.
We'll be adding "Virgin Mirth" to our New Releases rack this week, &
given the, um, unique subject matter it will be going into our permanent
library come summertime. One question: from what you've gathered does your work move better as
Comedy/Novelty or Singer/Songwriter? I'm inclined to go with the first
option -- I think there's a better shot at your being played over the
long run -- but there are arguments on both sides.Any suggestions?
